Feb 07, 2019

Augusta — State Sen. Dave Miramant, D-Camden, has recently filed a bill aimed at expanding renewable energy generaton. It would allow individuals to sell excess wind or solar energy at half the price of energy from fossil fuels.in order to encourage the generation and use of renewable energy.

The measure, LD 273, has had a public hearing before the Legislature's Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology, and faces further action in the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee, as well as votes in the Maine House and Senate.

In addition, Miramant has filed legislation to allow voting by mail in order to facilitate voter participation. The bill would direct the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee to appoint a working group to craft legislation that would implement a vote-by-mail system in Maine, which would then go before Maine voters for approval. The bill directs that working group to particularly study the vote-by-mail system in Oregon, which has been in place for all elections since 1998.

The measure has had a hearing betore the committee, and faces further action before the committee and a vote before the Maine House and Senate.

A third bill filed by Miramant would require cameras in the back of ambulances when a patient is being transported, for the protection of both patients and emergency medical personnel. The Health and Human Services Committee will hold a work session on the measure prior to votes in the Maine House and Senate

Miraman represents Senate District 12, which includes all of Knox County, except for Washington.

Great bills, Dave.  I've been hoping for renewable energy incentives.   Would like to see more...
