Ellsworth — As the high school wrestling regular season winds down, Medomak Valley was back on the mats on Saturday, Jan. 20, this time in Ellsworth, for a meet that welcomed 13 teams — and included a milestone moment for one of the Panthers' most talented student-athletes.

Team scores were not compiled, but those squads that were represented included: Bucksport, Calais, Caribou, Dexter, Ellsworth, Fort Kent, Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft, Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston, Penobscot Valley of Howland, Piscataquis of Guilford and Washington Academy of East Machias.

This meet was a little different than normal, with the tournament a round-robin style event. Each weight class was divided into an upper and lower tier, as each competitor faced everyone in that group.

There were 228 matches on the day, and no forfeits, and when the competition was complete, Medomak Valley’s Eli Miller had brought home his milestone 100th career win.
