CAMDEN — Some Camden residents were out on Washington Street May 3 showing their support for police. Cory Raymond and Ryan Vidal, and Vidal's mother waved large flags saying, "Police Lives Matter," "Blue Lives Matter," an American flag, and handed out bumper stickers.

Raymond said they stopped by the Camden Police Department and donated coffee, donuts and hats to the officers. Some officers did not take a hat but told them there is a lot of support for the police.

They were there to make sure everyone knows they support the police and care about them, Raymond said. There were getting a lot of honks and thumbs up, he said.

Raymond believes social media drives the problem. He argues if you defund the police, crime will increase.

Raymond grew up in Lewiston. He believes if you say Black Lives Matter, that is racist. He saw a White Lives Matter sign in a photograph of a protest. "I thought that was disgusting," he said. All lives matter, it doesn't matter the color, he argued.

Well we seem to be all in agreement here.  Well said Crawford.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Crawford.

Great opinion, Crawford.  Rockland police chief dealt with their situation straight forward. No cover up; even though it left them short handed it gave them creditability.  Enough of the divisiveness. Like sitting in a rocking chair: It gets us no place. ;)

Much like there are good white folks... there are bad white folks. Much like there are good black folks... there are bad black folks. Much like there are good cops (thankfully a majority)... there are bad cops. We should support the good... and deal harshly with the bad. Quite simple really. It doesn't take flag waving and politicizing everything to solve problems. Those acts only perpetuate the divisive sickness that seems to have enveloped the country. That is my opinion on it... but we know what they say about opinions.
