Thomaston — A Courier-Gazette reader, Hope Creighton of Thomaston, captured these songbirds peeking into a cozy bird house in her yard.

Bluebirds have recently ventured further from their normal wintry habitat in southern Maine to the Midcoast, with the National Audubon Society recording over 400 sightings in 2018.

Bluebirds are one of many favorites for ornithologists, recognizable for their bright blue and rust colored feathers.
