Midcoast Leadership Academy starts 7th program year at UMaine Hutchinson Center

The opening session of the Midcoast Leadership Academy’s 7th program year was held September 22st and 22nd at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast.  Referred to as the program’s LEAP (Leadership Experiences, Activities, and Practices) this 2-day kick off to the 9-month program emphasizes leadership and team building.


Leaders from Knox and Waldo County who will spend the next nine months learning leadership skills, exploring issues facing the Midcoast region, and working with area nonprofits on year-long regional projects are:

Modeled after successful community leadership programs held throughout the country, MLA7 is being run as a partnership between the University of Maine Hutchinson Center and Midcoast Leadership Academy.


Central to the founding of the program is the belief that the Midcoast is a unique region, rich with spirit, creativity, and tradition.  The program’s mission is to positively impact the economic and cultural quality of life in the Midcoast by enhancing the professional and personal development of its community leaders.  Our distinguished guest faculty is drawn from the worlds of academia, business, government, consulting, and the non-profit sector.
