Midcoast Forecast - September 6, 2019 PM

Clouds are increasing across the Midcoast Friday as we gear up for a stormy start to the weekend. Hurricane Dorian will pass south of the Gulf of Maine on Saturday resulting in brisk winds, soaking rain, and high surf. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for coastal Downeast Maine and the eastern and southern portion of the Gulf of Maine where sustained winds of ~40mph or greater are expected. Most of the Midcoast will only see sustained winds of 15-25mph with gusts to 35ph. A High Surf Advisory is in effect for all of the Maine coast with waves of around 10 feet expected resulting in minor coastal flooding and erosion around the time of high tide. Rainfall totals will range from 1/2" to 1.5" with higher amounts Downeast. The wet and windy conditions will make for a raw day with highs only in the 50s. Conditions will improved on Sunday as the storm quickly clears to the northeast making for partly to mostly sunny skies with temperatures rebounding to the upper 60s to near 70 with lighter winds. High pressure will build in for the early week with sunny and mild weather with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. A cold front will move through during the mid week with a few showers on Wednesday.
