Weather Brief Sep 05, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - September 5, 2019 AM

High pressure is building back in from the west after a round of showers Wednesday. This will lead to sunny skies Thursday with lower humidity and highs in the 60s to low 70s. Clouds will roll back in through Friday as Hurricane Dorian moves up the east coast, passing just off the Mid Atlantic coast by Friday afternoon. Dorian will move near or just south of the southern Gulf of Maine through Saturday that will bring periods of rain to the Midcoast along with breezy north to northeast winds. although tropical storm force and hurricane force winds are expected to stay offshore at this time. Winds at this time will likely be sustained between 15-25mph with gusts up to 40mph. We'll see stronger winds offshore that will build seas between 10-15 feet during this time. Rainfall amounts will likely range between 1/2" to 1.5" with higher amounts possible for far Downeast Maine. A shift in the track further west would result in more rain and wind, with a shift east resulting in less. I will be keeping a close eye on this storm as we continued through the week ahead. We'll see clearing into Sunday with sunshine into the early week.
