Weather Brief Oct 21, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - October 21, 2019 PM

Our week is off to a nice start thanks to high pressure built in over New England providing the return of sunny skies and milder temperatures with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. The sunshine won't last long as our next storm system gradually approaches from the west. A broad area of low pressure over the Great Lakes will push a cold front toward the east coast on Tuesday. This will increase clouds for the Midcoast through the day with rain arriving overnight. Rain will continue through Wednesday morning, heavy at times before tapering off during the late afternoon and evening. Accumulations will range between 1" to 2". Along with the rain, we'll see east to southeast winds increase Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. Winds will be brisk but not expected to be nearly the magnitude of last week's storm with gusts only reaching to around 35mph. We'll see clearing on Thursday with mostly sunny skies returning. A cold front will move through Friday night and into Saturday that will increase clouds with a few showers possible. Temperatures will drop behind this front with lows dipping near or below freezing by Sunday morning.
