Weather Brief May 14, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - May 14, 2019 AM

We are in for a raw and wet Tuesday with some mix of snow possibly with the soaking rain. Despite temperatures today in the upper 30s to low 40s, the air temperature at higher elevations is below freezing allowing for some possible snow mix with the rain through Tuesday as our storm passes east through the Gulf of Maine. Higher elevations above 1,000 feet will see cooler temperatures which could allow for minor snow accumulation. Along with the cold and rain, we'll see areas of fog during this time along with brisk northeast winds. The storm will be slow to clear into Wednesday as it drifts east into the Canadian Maritimes with clouds and fog holding along with spotty rain showers.

If you aren't a fan of the raw wet weather, there will be improvements for the late week and into the weekend. We'll see the return of some sunshine on Thursday with temperatures rebounding back into the 50s. A warm front will move north into the region on Friday and into Saturday that will make for mostly cloudy skies but bring temperatures up into the 60s to near 70 for the weekend. The front will linger over the region through the weekend keeping clouds in the area and occasional spotty rain with a better chance for soaking rain on Monday.
