Weather Brief Mar 19, 2018

Midcoast Forecast - March 19, 2018

The freeze of winter is back after unseasonably cold air moved in over the weekend with overnight lows in the teens and single digits and highs only in the 20s. The higher sun angle has helped take away some of the chill and continue to eat away at the snow pack. The sunny and cold weather will continue into Tuesday with temperatures climb back around the mid 30s by the afternoon as the heart of the cold air shifts back to the north.

Clouds will build back in on Wednesday as an area of low pressure over the Mid Atlantic starts to generate steam and take a turn north in our direction. The center of the storm will pass south of the Gulf of Maine during the mid week but the northern edge will scrape through the southern half of Maine late Wednesday and into Thursday morning with accumulating snow likely. The amount of snow is still up in the air depending on how far north the storm is able to make it but this will be far from the strength of the storms we saw earlier in the month.

Skies clear into the late week with highs around 40, helping to continue the snow melt.
