Weather Brief Jan 09, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - January 9, 2019

The stormy weather that moved in Tuesday continued into Wednesday as above normal temperatures with highs into the low 40s lead to soaking rains for the Midcoast. Cold air made a return during the afternoon as the storm began to depart to the east pulling in cold air back in with a departing round of snow. This lead to a fresh coating of snow across the Midcoast and a messy afternoon commute.

Clouds will linger on Thursday with clearing overnight and into Friday as high pressure builds in from the west and our storm system continues to pull out to the east. This high will pull in bitter cold air along breezy northwest winds for the end of the week and into the weekend with lows dipping down either side of 0 with highs in the teens and low 20s. Wind chill values will dip between 0 and -15 during the colder overnight periods during this time. The cold will remain along with high pressure through the weekend and into the early week helping to deflect a storm system to our south.

The next chance for snow will arrive on Wednesday as a weak clipper system rolls through the region.
