Weather Brief Jan 31, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - January 31, 2019

Arctic high pressure is in place over the region making for sunny skies while ushering in the coldest air so far this season. Low temperatures Thursday morning dipped down to the single digits to near 0 with winds chills around -10. High temperatures only managed to climb into the low to mid teens during the afternoon with west winds between 10 to 20mph making wind chill values feel like 0 to -5. This trend will continue into Friday with improvements beginning during the weekend with highs back into the 20s. Clouds will move in on Saturday as a warm front approaches from the south west that could lead to pockets of flurries across the state. The front will linger over the region on Sunday keeping clouds around with highs continue to climb into the low 30s.

An area of low pressure will move in from the west late Sunday and into the overnight that will bring a quick round rain as the coast with snow inland. This will clear by Monday morning as temperatures continue to move upward into the 40s. This will set the stage for more rain as another low tracks in on Tuesday followed by another late Wednesday into Thursday with temperatures remaining above normal.
