Weather Brief Jan 02, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - January 2, 2019

After a fairly mild start to the new year Tuesday, cold air has moved back into the Midcoast Wednesday despite sunny skies with lows in the teens and highs holding in the 20s. The cold air will set the stage for a round of snow on Thursday as weak low pressure moves through the region. Snow will begin leading up to sunrise Thursday morning and continue at a light to moderate pace through the day with some rain mix possible along the immediate coast late in the day as temperatures warm slightly above freezing. Snow will taper off during the evening and early night leaving 1" to 3" for most locations with up to 5" for some locations across the interior Midcoast region.

High pressure will build in on Friday returning the Midcoast to partly to mostly sunny skies with temperature climbing to the mid to upper 30s. Clouds will gradually build back in through Saturday as low pressure approaches from the southwest. This will bring a round of rain showers Saturday night as temperatures hold above freezing with rain tapering off Sunday morning. High pressure will build back in through Sunday and into Monday ushering colder air back into the region. The cold air will set the stage for another snow event late Tuesday and into Wednesday that could lead to over 6" of snow for the Midcoast.
