Weather Brief Feb 08, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - February 8, 2019

Friday saw another taste of spring in February with rain showers pushing through and highs climbing into the 40s. The rain came in along a cold front that will sweep through late in the day and open the flood gates for bitter cold that will surge in for the weekend. Strong northwest winds will drop lows down into the teens and single digits by Saturday morning with highs in the teens and low 20s for the afternoon with wind chill values dipping between 0 and -15 at times. We will see abundant sunshine thanks to broad high pressure that will set up over the region through the weekend. A weak disturbance will move by offshore Sunday night that will increase clouds and may result in some light snow.

Cold air will remain in place through the early week setting the stage for a winter storm that will move in from the south and west with snow beginning Tuesday night and continuing through Wednesday. There's currently a chance that this could once again result in a mix of rain along the coast with temperatures hovering in the low to mid 30s which will determine exact snowfall amounts but it currently looks like this could be a plow-able snow. We'll clear out through Thursday followed by another chance of rain and snow late Friday and into the weekend.
