Weather Brief Feb 24, 2020

Midcoast Forecast - February 24, 2020

Spring was in the air on Monday with the warmest temperatures so far this season with highs ranging from the mid 40s to mid 50s, about 15 to 20 degrees above normal for late February. We saw sunny skies through the day but clouds will increase overnight as low pressure approaches from the southwest leading to mostly cloudy skies for Tuesday as highs hold in the 40s. The low will stall out to our west as it runs into high pressure over the region but a second wave of low pressure will move in behind it and push in pockets of rain and snow to the region by late Wednesday. The low will strengthen Thursday as it moves into southern New England and the Gulf of Maine bringing moderate to heavy snow inland and soaking rain and snow mix along the coast. If the storm tracks further south, this will allow colder air to work toward the coast resulting in higher chances of snow accumulation while a track further north will limit any snow. Our current snow forecast is likely to fluctuate through the mid week because of this. This storm will gradually clear out Friday with sunny but colder weather moving in for the weekend.
