Weather Brief Apr 10, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - April 10, 2019 PM

Our week has been off to a wintry start with snow Monday and another round Tuesday night and Wednesday morning but spring will be making a return for the late week and upcoming weekend. High pressure will build in from the northwest Wednesday night and into Thursday allowing for mostly sunny skies to return, rebound high temperatures into the 40s to near 50 at the coast. Clouds will build back in on on Friday as our next storm system approaches from the west.

Broad low pressure will track to our north Friday night and into Saturday pulling a cold front through the region. This will bring a round of rain showers to the Midcoast Friday night, clearing into Saturday morning with around 1/4" of accumulation. South winds will increase during this period pulling mild air into the region with highs on Saturday reaching the 60s for the Midcoast to near 70 for southwest Maine despite mostly sunny skies. This warm up will create enough instability to touch off spotty rain showers during late day. Slightly cooler air will filter in on Sunday with highs sagging into the low to mid 50s with continued partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Our next chance for rain arrives heading into the upcoming week as a broad area of low pressure moves into the region late Sunday and into Monday. This will bring soaking rains to the Midcoast with some snow for northern Maine. Rainfall totals will range between 1" to 1.5" with some showers lingering into Tuesday morning. We'll see some clearing for the mid week with highs in the 40s and low 50s followed by another rain storm to end the week.
