Midcoast Chorus invites nonprofits to apply for funds

Oct 09, 2017

Applications are now being accepted for selection as the beneficiary of proceeds from the June 2018 concert by Midcoast Community Chorus.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Steve Weston, Midcoast Community Chorus is a 160-voice, non-auditioned, multigenerational community chorus with a mission to “sing as a community for the community.” Well-known for its sold-out concerts, MCC sings music of hope, healing, peace and transformation from all over the world.

With the belief that "when we sing we change who we are, when we change who we are, we change the world," MCC performs at least two concerts a year. Each spring concert is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for a local nonprofit organization that addresses community needs and social injustice.

With an average donation of $5,000 per concert, MCC has donated over $65,000 since its founding in 2008. Past beneficiaries include Knox County Health Clinic, New Hope for Women, Maine Farmland Trust, Restorative Justice Project, Knox County Homeless Coalition, Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry, and MCH Meals on Wheels.

An organization interested in applying must be a local nonprofit located within the greater Knox County area. All interested organizations are invited to submit an application online at: www.mccsings.org or download the application and mail it to: Midcoast Community Chorus, P.O. Box 192, Rockport, ME 04856. The application deadline is Oct. 31.
