Rockland — In an ongoing partnership between the Rockland Women’s Golf Association and Pen Bay Waldo Healthcare Foundation, the seventh annual Midcoast Cancer Classic golf tournament will tee up on Friday, Aug. 10 at the Rockland Golf Club.

The four-golfer scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

In seven years, the golf association has raised more than $100,000 to benefit breast cancer support services in the Midcoast.

This year the money raised for the event will expand its reach to help those who suffer from all types of cancers.

“Men and women can and do participate in the fun-filled golf tournament,” said Sue Wootton, a member of the tourney committee.

Tourney registration forms are available at Rockland Golf Club or, for more information, one may call Jamie Geretz at 207-921-6707 or email at jegeretz@pbmc.org.

For their entry fee, which is $100 for a single, $200 for a twosome and $400 for a foursome, a golfer will get 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch, gifts and prizes.

One should register to participate in the tournament by Wednesday, Aug. 1.

"You don’t have to play golf to take part," Wootton said. "You can donate to the Dine Around. You can make an in-kind donation. You can be a tee sponsor and more."

The tourney sponsorships include:

Eagle Level: $1,000 — One gets mention in press release, poster and banquet recognition and free registration for four-person team.

Birdie Level: $500 — One gets mention in press release, poster and banquet recognition and free registration for two-person team.

Par Level: $250 — One gets mention in press release, poster and banquet recognition.

Tee: $100 — One gets recognition at a tee with a 18-by-24-inch sign.
