Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition honors one of its own

Ryan Gamage Stairway to Recovery
May 22, 2020

Camden — The Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition invites the public to join them Saturday June 6, at 11 a.m., in celebrating the culmination of two years of fundraising, advocacy and raising awareness at the dedication of the Ryan Gamage Stairway to Recovery at The Friend’s House, 22 Brewster St., Rockland.

In the spring of 2018, Ryan Gamage helped open The Friends House, the MCRC’s men’s recovery house, by donating his time, skills, furniture and supplies. He wanted to rebuild the staircase, which the house needed to meet fire code. This would allow an expansion from four residents to 16. That improvement would allow hundreds more men to work on their recovery in the coming years.

On January 6, 2019, Ryan overdosed, dying from the very disease he fought to help others overcome . To honor his memory, and to inspire and unite the community to help others in recovery, MCRC will name the new stairs “The Ryan Gamage Stairway to Recovery.”
