Merryspring offers fall pruning workshop Nov. 2

Arborist Travis Hamilton leads a fall pruning workshop at Merryspring Nov. 2.

Camden — Arborist Travis Hamilton will lead a fall pruning workshop at Merryspring Nature Center, 30 Conway Road, Camden, Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 am to noon. Hamilton is the owner and operator of ArborTech in Searsmont. He has been working with trees since 2001.

This outdoor class is a comprehensive tree care program, designed to teach beginners how to select good pruning tools, which trees can be pruned in fall, how to avoid preventing spring blooms and how to promote new growth in the following year. Hamilton will also speak about pruning and tool safety, the need for tree inspections, and urban forestry.

Guests should wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. This program is part of the Weekend Workshop; the cost is $10; $5 for members of Merryspring. For more information, contact or call 236-2239.
