Medomak Valley junior varsity notches seven wins, three ties

Panthers turn in strong performance through fall season
By Staff | Nov 21, 2019

Waldoboro — Despite having a small squad, the Medomak Valley High School girls junior varsity soccer team made the most of its opportunities during the fall campaign.

Led by coach Carrie White, the Panthers prowled to a 7-2-3 record, amassing 17 goals and nine assists throughout a 12-game schedule.

Team members include Ruth Havener, Chloe Blake, Hannah Lee, Emma Simmons, Cameron Bains, Paige Flaherty, Skylah Ward, Rachel Readinger, Megan Lee, Emma Kunesh, Mandi Karl, Cindy Shelmerdine, Chloe Bossow, Alyssa Chandler, Alyssa Creamer and Addison McCormick.

“Once again I was fortunate to have a group of hard-working girls who were also amazing team players,” said White, who led the team for the second straight year. “They were supportive of coaches and each other. We didn’t have the numbers we had last year, so there were times we only had one or two subs and they were asked to play new positions or play longer than they thought they could, but complaints were rare. We ended the season with an impressive record and I always like to stress that much of that success came from their positive attitudes, hard work, and willingness to be team players.”

Leading the Panther scoring attack were Creamer (6 goals, 2 assists), Blake (4 goals), Chandler (goal, assist), Bossow (goal, assist), Havener (goal, assist), Kunesh (goal), Shelmerdine (goal), Simmons (goal), Ward (goal) and Hannah Lee (assist).
