Nov 24, 2017

Rockland — Shastri Christopher St. John will give a public talk, "Being Peace in Fearful Times," Thursday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rockland Shambhala, 16 School St. The presentation and evening of meditation practice is open to the public with donations accepted. Tea and refreshments will be served.

In this talk, St. John will explore the theme of being peace in the midst of the social, political and environmental challenges of our times. He will teach shamatha meditation, known as peaceful abiding meditation, as a way to get to know the mind and heart with friendliness to oneself.

Through practice, participants will explore how cultivating peace within oneself can benefit our families, our communities and the world. The evening will include meditation instruction and practice, the talk and discussion.

St. John has been a student of Buddhism since 1982. For more information and to register for the class, visit http://rocklandyoga.com/program/dharma-talk-series or contact Rachel Nixon at rocklandshambhala@gmail.com or 594-1694.
