9 am – 2:30 pm

Did you know that there’s a State program that can help with your Medicare costs?   Spectrum Generations will be available at The Islesboro Community Center to help you determine if you qualify for this help.  We will have six individual one-hour appointments available for Islesboro residents on Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 - six one-hour appointments available, starting at 9 am.

The Medicare Savings Plan (MSP), also known as the Buy-In, is a good benefit that saves money for Medicare beneficiaries with limited income who qualify.  There are different levels of MSP and each level pays for the Part B premium and prescription costs.  One level also pays some medical costs associated with Medicare Part A and Part B.

Your income (as an individual or as a couple) determines what level of MSP you qualify for.  The Department of Health and Human Services determines eligibility and there are exceptions to the rules, but a ball park income amount for a single person is about $1777 per month (liquid assets less than $50,000) and for a married couple is about $2394 per month (liquid assets less than $75,000).  If only one person in a couple wants or needs help, the income limit may be as high as $2755 per month.

Our representative can help you apply for this program online or a paper  application.  Please provide your Medicare card, proof of income and a list of your medications or bring your prescription bottles (with specific dosages, etc.).

Islesboro residents should call Kathryn Kreamer at Spectrum Generations – 338-1190 -- for more information or to make for an appointment (register by Tuesday, July 8th).
