West Bay Rotary is partnering with the non-profit organization Meals of Hope from Naples, Florida to host a meal packing event and they are looking for volunteers.  They will pack up to 25,000 nutritious and much needed quality meals for families in need in the Midcoast area.  These will be distributed to local food pantries that have expressed an interest in receiving the meals.  West Bay Rotary is are also contacting additional local organizations that may be interested in receiving meals.

The event will take place on October 26, 2019 at the Elks Lodge, 201 Rankin Street, Rockland from for 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

The mission of Meals of Hope is “Communities coming together to end hunger”.  They have developed five meals with added vitamins, minerals, and proteins to supplement an unbalanced diet.  Because Meals of Hope is AIB Certified, this food is held to The American Institute of Baking International’s stringent standards, which require organizations to use best practices for food handling and distribution. In fact, they were awarded the “Recognition of High Achievement” by AIB for scoring in the top 90% of all food facilities.

West Bay Rotary needs 75 volunteers to help with this meal packing event.  They are reaching out to local Rotary clubs, police departments, food pantries, and other organizations to recruit volunteers, but we welcome all volunteers to help make this a successful community event.  To volunteer or for more information about the West Bay Rotary-Meals of Hope meal packing event, contact Etienne Perret at etienneperret@gmail.com  or 207.632.4057.

The cost of each meal is about 25 cents.  Donations can be made to the West Bay Rotary Charitable Foundation to help cover the cost of these meals.  Checks may be mailed to:  Rotary of West Bay Charitable Foundation, PO Box 1033, Camden, ME 04843.  Please write “Meals of Hope” in the memo section of your check.  Secure credit card payments may be made at wbrcharitablefoundationdonation.com.

This event is only possible with the support of our local community, so West Bay Rotary would like to thank everyone for volunteering and/or donating.
