MCMA recital, summer camps

Jun 07, 2018

Rockland — The community is invited to join Midcoast Music Academy for its spring student recital Sunday, June 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the downtown Strand Theatre, 345 Main St. A $10 donation is requested for the school’s scholarship program.

MCMA is a contemporary music school offering private and group music instruction on a variety of instruments for all ages and skill levels. This summer, the nonprofit MCMA offers two different weeklong summer camp intensives.

Fee for each session is $375; if a child enrolls in additional weeks and/or with a sibling, a 10 percent discount will be applied.

Each camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Songwriter's Camp runs June 25 through 29. During this camp, students will write individual songs, record demos and celebrate by performing their songs at an open mic-style party Friday evening. Blues Intensive Camp runs July 9 through 13, with a performance at the North Atlantic Blues Fest July 14 and 15. Students form bands during the week, study blues, choose a set list and play on the main stage each morning.

A limited number of camp scholarships are available; please contact MCMA or visit midcoastmusicacademy.com for more information. To register, contact Robin Lane at info@midcoastmusicacademy.com or 701-7410 for a registration packet.
