Rockport — “A Time In Song,” a 10th anniversary concert by Midcoast Community Chorus, will be presented Saturday, June 16, at 7 p.m. in the Strom Auditorium of Camden Hills Regional High School, off Route 90.

To celebrate this milestone, Artistic Director Steve Weston has chosen choral arrangements providing a journey of hits through the decades since the 1920s; he promises it will be hard not to sing along. The 170-member chorus also will perform three favorites from past concerts.

Sean Fleming, assistant director and pianist, will direct the band and accompany the chorus.  The MCC Women’s Ensemble and the MCC Chorale will sing additional numbers. Traditionally, audience members join in singing a few music selections. In this concert, audience and singers will create a unique sound experience, made possible by the nearly one thousand voices present.

Each June concert, MCC awards a grant to a local nonprofit; the 2018 beneficiary is the Rockland-based One Community Many Voices.  Its mission is to provide small financial boosts that support individuals and families to achieve a dream or overcome a temporary barrier, thus regaining financial stability, self-confidence and a healthy lifestyle. Recipients “pay it forward” by helping others.

One Community Many Voices aligns with MCC’s mission to “sing as a community for the community,” affirming we each and all can make a difference in people’s lives.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $25 and $30 for reserved seating. General Admission tickets only are available at Clean Bee Laundry in Camden, Grasshopper Shop in Rockland and The Green Store in Belfast.
