Mazzeo currently is working on “Irena's Children,” about Holocaust heroine Irena Sendler, who has been called the "female Schindler." That book is slated for release by Gallery/Simon & Schuster in 2016.

Mazzeo received her doctorate from the University of Washington, Seattle. She teaches English at Colby and narrative nonfiction at writer's workshops in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. She divides her time between the west coast of Canada, New York City and Portland, Maine. For more information about the author, visit
