Mars Hall ‘Sales’ into season

"Ready to go" by Kris Johnson will help open the 2014 season at Mars Hall Gallery.

Martinsville — Mars Hall Gallery on Route 131 will open its doors Memorial Day weekend for a special pre-season event, "Sales into the Season. The gallery will be open Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and by appointment thereafter through June 19.

The show will feature watercolors by Leo Brooks, Nat Lewis, Elaine Reed, Carl Sublett and Eleanor Zuccola along with oil and acrylic paintings by Nancy Baker, Kris Johnson, Roger Kirby, Barbara Major-Weaver, Cali Veilleux and Ron Weaver. New to the gallery this year are outsider artists Elaine Niemi and Brian Reed. In addition to the paintings are encaustic masks by Diane Green-Hebert, assemblage by Bill Cook and metal sculpture by Jay Hoagland and Brian Read.

The gallery also offers jewelry by Kathleen Kiley and decoupage boxes by Davene Fahy, as well as stained glass, pottery, mosaics, fine antiques and collectibles. Back by popular demand will be gently used art books and materials.
