Mariners sunk by Shipbuilders in first game of campaign

Frost, Pease collaborate on goal for Oceanside

Bath — High temperatures, compounded by a hot turf field and an overall young team, proved a tough combination to overcome for the Oceanside field hockey team in its season- and road-opener on Tuesday, Sept. 4 against Morse.

The Shipbuilders scored the first two goals and the Mariners had a tough time keeping pace with the hosts in the second half, which surged to a 5-1 high school stick win.

Morse held a 3-0 edge at halftime.

Vanessa St. Pierre, Adeline Jung, Macey Coffin, Maggie Moore and Kennedy St. Pierre scored goals for Morse, while Kim St. Pierre logged two assists.

Amanda Frost scored the lone goal of the game for Oceanside, while Caleigh Pease added an assist.

Morse held a 16-7 edge in shots and 10-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Alexa Barstow made nine saves in the cage for the Mariners and Laura Boutin one defensive save. Fiona Cashman made six saves in goal for the Shipbuilders.
