Mariners, Panthers square off, Windjammers sting Hornets, Vikings

Chilles, Anderson earn medalist honors in recent matches

The Midcoast high school golf campaigns continued to chip along in the first full week of September.

In a busy week, Oceanside, Camden Hills and Medomak Valley were in action on Monday, Sept. 10, as the Mariners bested Lincoln Academy 8-1 and the Windjammers won 7.5-1.5 over Oxford Hills of South Paris. The Panthers fell 6.5-2.5 to unbeaten Morse of Bath.

Oceanside also was in action on Friday, Sept. 7 and fell 5.5-3.5 to Morse of Bath.

All three squads were also on the links on Thursday, Sept. 6, as the Mariners beat the Panthers 8.5-0.5 and the Windjammers drove past Leavitt of Turner 8-1.

In early-week play, Oceanside and Medomak Valley were in action on Tuesday, Sept. 4, as the Mariners sailed past Mount View of Thorndike 7-2, while the Panthers of Medomak Valley hosted Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, and lost 5-4.

The following is a recap of reported results:

Morse 6.5, Medomak Valley 2.5

At Bath Sept. 10, the Shipbuilders swung past the Panthers. Morse finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 215 to 216 to Medomak Valley.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley golfers listed first, were: Carson Murphy (46) lost to Kaleb Jackson (45), 2-down; Sean Sebrey (50) beat Dom Marco (59), 4+3; Leighton Winslow (57) lost to Angus Brown (52), 3+2; Merritt Gould (63) halved with Wade Bradford (59); Matthew Sirois (76) lost to Gaige Kindlimann (59), 2+1; and Garret Hutchins (66) beat Tanner Hennin (67), 1-up.

Jackson was the medalist at 46.

Oceanside 8, Lincoln Academy 1

At Rockland Golf Club Sept. 10, the Mariners emerged victorious against the Eagles. Oceanside finished by a four-golfer stroke total of 205 to 223 to Lincoln Academy.

The individual results, with Oceanside golfers listed first, were: Austin Chilles (47) halved with Eva Morse (52); Darik Johnson (53) beat Quincy Perry (58), 4+2; Carter Fogarty (53) beat Aiden McCullen (56), 2+1; Teddy Hallett (52) beat Sam Peters (57), 2+1; Mason Curtis (55) halved with Dawson Wall (64); and Aiden Andrews (54) beat Alex Fariano (60), 2+1.

Chilles was the medalist at 47.

Camden Hills 7.5, Oxford Hills 1.5

At South Paris Sept. 10, the Windjammers bested the host Vikings. Camden Hills finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 174 to 193 for Oxford Hills.

The individual results, with Camden Hills golfers listed first, were: Cole Anderson (37) beat Anthony Michaud (46), Parker Hilchey (44) beat Wyatt Bryant (53), Jonathan Mahoney (45) beat Connor Ward (47), Drew Minery (48) beat Connor Dailey (52), Nate Johnson (48) halved with Wyatt Williamson (48) and Shiyan Kesser (51) beat Rodney Bean (56).

In exhibition action, Jason Greenleaf (57) halved with Peter Pacholski (57) and Bryler Fisher (49) beat Dylan Davis (51).

Anderson was the medalist at 37.

Morse 5.5, Oceanside 3.5

On Sept. 7 at the Bath Country Club, the undefeated host Shipbuilders had to battle hard to outdistance the Mariners. Morse, 7-0 on the campaign, finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 206 to 211 for Oceanside.

The individual results, with Oceanside golfers listed first, were: Austin Chilles (42) beat Kaleb Jackson (51), 1-up; Darik Johnson (54) beat Angus Brown (54), 2+1; Teddy Hallett (59) lost to Dominic Marco (44), 3+2; Carter Fogarty (56) beat Wade Bradford (64), 2-up; Aiden Andrews (66) lost to Gaige Kindlemann (57), 1-up; and Mason Curtis (60) halved with Tanner Hennin (64).

Austin Chilles was the medalist at 42.

Oceanside 8.5, Medomak Valley 0.5

On Sept. 6 at Rockland Golf Club, the Mariners bested the Panthers. Oceanside finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 193 to 206 for Medomak Valley.

The individual results, with Oceanside golfers listed first, were: Austin Chilles (42) beat Carson Murphy (46), 3+2; Carter Fogarty (53) beat Sean Sebrey (52), 2+1; Teddy Hallett (53) beat Leighton Winslow (54), 3+2; Darik Johnson (45) beat Clayton Belcher (54), 3+2; Aidan Andrews (55) halved with Merritt Gould (59); and Mason Curtis (63) beat Garret Hutchins (65), 1-up.

Chilles was the medalist at 42.

Camden Hills 8, Leavitt 1

On Sept. 6 at Samoset Resort, the Windjammers snapped a two-match losing streak. Camden Hills finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 160 to 177 for Leavitt.

The individual results, with Camden Hills golfers listed first, were: Cole Anderson (31) beat Ruby Haylock (37); Parker Hilchey (42) beat Eli Lind (46); Jonathan Mahoney (43) beat Morghan Dultil (46); Drew Minery (51) lost to Steven Parshall (48); Nate Johnson (44) beat Hayden Pelliteir (54); and Shiyan Kesser (52) beat Rebekah Davis (53).

Anderson shot 31 for medalist honors.

Oceanside 7, Mount View 2

On Sept. 4 at Rockland Golf Club, the Mariners tamed the Mustangs. Oceanside finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 231 to 257 for Mount View.

The individual results, with Oceanside golfers listed first, were: Austin Chilles (42) beat Shawn Von Oesen (64), 5+4; Darik Johnson (disqualified) beat John Clifford (64), 4+3; Teddy Hallett (51) beat Chase Roberts (64), 5+4; Mason Curtis (62) beat Miles Littlefield (69), 3+2; Colin Landy (76) lost to Josh Campbell (65), 3+2; and Jameson Bell (92) lost to Niamh Foley (75), 3+2.

Chilles was the medalist at 42.

Lincoln Academy 5, Medomak Valley 4

On Sept. 4 at Rockland Golf Club, the Eagles clipped the Panthers. Lincoln Academy finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 197 to 198 for Medomak Valley. Thus, one stroke decided the match, as that gave the Eagles three valuable points and they won despite losing more individual matches.

The individual results, with Panther golfers listed first, were: Carson Murphy (44) beat Quincy Perry (51), 4+3; Sean Sebrey (49) beat Dawson Wall (56), 3+2; Leighton Winslow (53) beat Aiden McCullen (59), 4+3; Clayton Belcher (52) lost to Ava Morse (40), 5+4; Merritt Gould (57) over Will Farrell (66), 4+3; and Garret Hutchins (63) lost to Sam Peters (50), 3+2.
