Mariners finish regular-season dual-matches

Fogarty continues exceptional mat career with three more pins

Topsham — The Oceanside wrestling team concluded its regular season on Friday, Jan. 25, as the Mariners had their final tuneup before the start of postseason action.

Oceanside lost its three dual-matches, as it fell to Mount Blue of Farmington 48-24, Mount Ararat of Topsham 60-18 and Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft 64-9.

The Mariners will compete in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at Cony High School in Augusta to kick off the postseason schedule.

The individual Oceanside results, with Mariner wrestlers listed first, were:

106 pounds — Josh Smalley won by forfeit over Mount Blue and Mount Ararat; and was pinned by Sawyer McCarty, FA.

152 pounds — Alex Fogarty pinned Benjamin Nicholas, MtB; pinned Bode Matthews, MtA; and pinned Alex Atkinson, FA.

182 pounds — Dylan Williams pinned Noah Ward-Ruben, MtB; pinned Tristan Burch, MtA; and beat Joshua Whittemore, FA.

195 pounds — Kaleb Blackwell won by forfeit over Mount Blue; was pinned by Brady Mitchell-Damms, MtA; and lost by major decision to Lucas Ames, FA.
