Mariners cage second win, Windjammers drop one-goal affair

Black tallies two goals, Youngs one apiece as Oceanside bests LA

The Oceanside and Camden Hills field hockey teams split on Saturday, Sept. 28 as the Mariners caged their second win of the high school campaign.

The Mariners earned a 4-0 victory over Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, while the Windjammers came up on the short end of a 2-1 defeat against Brunswick.

The following is a recap of reported results:

Oceanside 4, Lincoln Academy 0

At Newcastle Sept. 28, the Mariners caged a shutout victory over the Eagles. The opponents were scoreless at halftime.

Leading the Oceanside offense were Colette Black (2 goals, assist), Grace Young (goal), Emma Young (goal), Vandrielli Barcelos (assist) and Emma Gerrish (assist).

Oceanside held a 15-6 edge in shots and 18-10 advantage in penalty corners.

Alexa Barstow made six saves in the cage for the Mariners, while Addie Brinkler made 11 saves for the Eagles.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Oceanside (2-7, 2.6531 points) is 10th, while Winslow (10-0, 68.9482 points) is first in the 12-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
