Registration is now open for Marine Science Summer Camp at Herring Gut Learning Center in Port Clyde, Maine! We will be leading 6 fun filled weeks of camp for students entering 1st-7th grade.

Full week camps run Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm, mini weeks for students entering 1st & 2nd grade run Monday-Wednesday.

A shuttle is available from Thomaston.

Come spend a week with us this summer discovering the different coastal habitats of Maine! Roll up your sleeves and explore the rocky shore, salt marshes, mudflats, and more. Look under rocks for sea stars, dig in the muck for clams, and wade into the water to net small fish.

Experience a different habitat every day by visiting incredible field sites for hands-on ocean exploration guided by our experienced and talented staff. Collect what you find to take it back to the lab for closer inspection. Learn even more about coastal habitats by designing and building aquariums to mimic the real thing. But that is not all: activities, experiments, art projects, games, the list goes on!

On Thursday* we hop on a boat and travel a few miles offshore to visit Allen Island! This beautiful private island has many of the marine habitats discussed throughout the week and is just waiting to be explored.

Friday, the last day of camp, you be the expert! We will spend the morning preparing interactive exhibits, then invite families and community members to join us as you explain all of your findings from a week of marine science discovery.

*Session 1 of camp will visit Allen Island on Friday July 14.  Mini sessions will not travel to Allen Island.

Tuition for a full week of camp is $250 for Knox County and $300 for non-residents. Mini-session tuition is $125 for Knox County and $150 for non-residents. Scholarships available.
