Union — Marilyn Christianson passed away Nov. 3, 2020. She was born in East Union in 1932, the daughter of the late Roland and Gretchen Payson. They owned a country general store, where she worked from age 10 during World War II, days when the town boys were drafted for the war.

Marilyn graduated from Union High School in 1949 and from Husson Business College of Bangor.

She loved basketball, softball and being at the lake. After college, she worked for the Navy Department in special services in Washington, D.C., and also in Boston at the Fargo Building, First Naval District. After marriage and four children, she was co-owner of Gurry's Store and Downeast Restaurant in Salem, N.H., for 14 years.

A resident of Derry, N.H., since 1975, she worked as a cashier at the A&P in Methuen, Mass. She started employment with Hadeo printed circuits in 1976 until retirement 25 years later.

She was predeceased by a son, Robbie, in 1979. She is survived by her son Kerry, Jamie and Dean.

Her love for animals and rescue was such a part of her life. Donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice. At her request, there will be no services.
