Rockland — A 39-year-old Bangor man was sentenced Wednesday, Sept. 4, to five years in prison for dealing drugs in the Midcoast.

Gregorio Dario Diaz was sentenced in Knox County Court for aggravated trafficking in drugs May 15, 2018, in Thomaston. He was also fined $400, but the fine was suspended.

At the time of his arrest, Police said Diaz had been a supplier of heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine to the Midcoast.

Agents of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Diaz as he left a motel carrying 56 bags of crack cocaine. Police say Diaz had been driving to Massachusetts to pick up the drugs and sell them in the Midcoast.

Diaz also forfeited $6,815 in cash that was on him at the time of his arrest, Assistant Attorney John Risler said.

Diaz has been in custody for all but a short time since his arrest. He had been released on bail briefly, but violated terms of his release and was returned to jail.
