Maine food writer to discuss vegetables Feb. 25

Camden — The final presentation of Camden Garden Club’s 2020 Winter Horticulture Series takes place at the Camden Public Library Tuesday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. James Beard award-winning author and lecturer Sandy Oliver’s talk is entitled "Annual Vegetable Miracle – Garden to Table."

Oliver is a Maine food writer, gardener and cook best known for her work as a freelance food writer with the column Taste Buds that appears each weekend in the Bangor Daily News. Her writing appears in regional publications and she has authored several books of food history, plus “Maine Home Cooking: 175 Recipes from Downeast Kitchens” collected from her BDN column. Most recently she compiled “Cooking Maine Style” from two cookbooks written by Marjorie Standish.

Oliver lives on Islesboro, an island in Penobscot where she gardens, preserves, cooks and teaches sustainable life ways.
