Belfast, Maine — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) will host free interactive workshops, “The Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and older at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Fridays in March and April, starting on March 6.

MEOC, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, assists qualified adults to transition toward higher education by providing GED/SAT preparation, college planning, referrals, advocacy, career advising, financial aid advising and assistance with the college admissions process at no cost.

Last year, MEOC successfully placed 587 Maine adults into colleges.

The starting point for all MEOC participants is the college planning workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills. The workshop lasts up to two hours. Contact Patrick Blanchette at 800.281.3703 to preregister.

For more information or to request a disability accommodation, contact Nancy Bergerson, 207.338.8049; nancy.bergerson@maine.edu. Additional information about the Hutchinson Center is online hutchinsoncenter.umaine.edu.
