Plan now to spend your winter learning Machining Basics or TIG Welding.

ROCKLAND – Register now for our January trades courses in Machining & Welding

Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education is accepting registrations for our winter trades courses.  Our 36-hour TIG Welding course begins January 16th and will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-7:30 p.m. for 12 weeks.  This course is for experienced welders or students who have advanced through basic welding courses. Safety techniques and online safety training are included; actual TIG welding instruction covers industry expectations for job seekers as well as skills for recreational welders.

Also in January is our 8-week Machining course for beginner students. The course covers shop safety, proper use of dial calipers and micrometers, theory and hands-on operation of basic machines found in a machine shop (lathe, milling machines and drill presses), and determining speeds and feeds.  Focus will be on basic setup and operation of a milling machine and lathe.  Machining Basics runs Monday evenings from 4:30 – 7:30pm, beginning January 22nd.  Students can then choose to continue with advanced machining instruction in April with Machining Part II.
