Lovely blast of blues

Rockland — The weekly Monday Night Blues series continues Nov. 26 with a 7 to 10 p.m. show by the Karen Lovely Band in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Admission is $15 at the door.

Karen Lovely shot onto the blues scene out of the Pacific Northwest less than 10 years ago, placing second at the International Blues Challenge and immediately following up with a growing list of Blues Music Award nominations (including for this year’s Contemporary Blues Female Artist). Her blistering mix of contemporary blues, blues-rock and American roots music, and her powerhouse vocals, has earned her seven Muddy Awards and Blues Blast nominations, as well.

Lovely is a committed social activist whose songs address domestic violence, sexual abuse, homelessness, mental health, addiction and suicide. She donated proceeds from pre-sales of her latest CD, last year’s “Fish Outta Water,” to RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization; and includes links to domestic violence and sexual assault hotlines in each of her studio album liner notes.

Doors open an hour before show time. Next up in the weekly series are: Dec. 3, Road to Memphis fundraiser for Matt & the Barnburners ($10); and Dec. 10, the last show of the year, Regina Bonelli and band, playing the annual Blues Year Eve dress-up show ($10).
