Local poets share their Stories from Maine

Jun 13, 2018

Camden — Local poets Paul McFarland and Kristen Lindquist will tell their own Stories from Maine as they read from their poetry Tuesday, June 26, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Picker Room of the downtown Camden Public Library.

Both graduates of the local high school — McFarland when it was Camden High School; Lindquist when it was Camden-Rockport High School — their work offers something for everyone: rhymes; free verse; poems that make you laugh and cry. Although their styles differ, their work, much of it rooted in growing up on the Midcoast, shares some of the same landscape and offers up familiar local personalities.

McFarland has been a participating member of The Poets’ Corner group at Rockport Public Library for several years and has read locally. Lindquist has published two collections of poetry. The most recent, “Tourists in the Known World,” came out in spring 2017. Garrison Keillor has read three of her poems on the former "Writer's Almanac" on National Public Radio; and her work has appeared in various literary journals and anthologies. She will have copies of her book available for purchase after the reading.

This free event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
