Local officers graduate from police academy

Three local police officers are among the 50 newest in the state -- Scott A. Redmun II of Rockland Police Dept., Cooper A. Plaisted of Rockport Police Dept. and Olaf P. Sigaud of Thomaston Police Dept.

The officers graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro and come from the local, county and state ranks. They spent 18 weeks at the academy in study and training. Among the many topics the officers studied were crime scene processing, emergency vehicle operation, first aid, traffic and criminal law, domestic violence and sexual assault.

The graduation speaker was Kennebec County Sheriff Randy Liberty, who also serves as president of the Maine Sheriff’s Association.

Also graduating are Patrick Mank and Daniel C. Brown.  Both grew up together in Rockport/Rockland.  Both are policemen in Waterville.
