Local Churches to Help Elect New Bishop

Members of local Episcopal Churches in our county will be joining with other representatives of Episcopalians from around Maine to elect the tenth Episcopal Bishop of Maine this Saturday beginning at 10 am at the Cross Center in Bangor.

The new bishop will succeed Bishop Stephen Lane who will be retiring after the consecration of the new bishop in June.

Candidates for the new bishop include the Rev. Thomas Brannon, of Idaho, the Rev. Thomas Brown of Massachusetts, the Rev. Anne Mellonee, of New York, the Rev. Rachel Tabor-Hamilton, of Washington, and the Rev. Janet Waggoner, of Texas.

To be elected one needs to have a majority of votes from the representatives from all the congregations, and also a majority of votes from the clergy.
