Lindsay speaks on granite

Steve Lindsay’s granite 1990 “Cod I” is part of the artist’s ongoing exploration of the mighty groundfish.

Appleton — As part of Appleton Library's Third Thursday Speaking Series, Midcoast sculptor Steve Lindsay will present on the history of the granite industry in Maine and the Midcoast Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

As Lindsay's interest of incorporating local granite in his sculptures grew, he studied the area’s granite business, cutting process and tools. He will share what he learned through his experience and research over the past several decades.
