Camden — Linda M. Norton, 75, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Sussman House in Rockport with her dear friend, Phyllis K Lee, at her side.

Born in New Haven, Conn., July 17, 1943, she was the daughter of Ernest C. Norton and Ruth Leadbetter Norton of Portland, Conn., both of whom predeceased her. Linda was a graduate of Portland High School, class of 1961. After high school, Linda spent time in both England and Ireland pursuing equine studies.

Linda will be remembered forever through her incredible watercolor paintings. As a self-taught artist, much of her inspiration came from the beauty of nature and the constantly changing weather of Penobscot Bay on the Maine coast. Linda was an Elected Artist member of the Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Conn., a member of the American Society of Marine Artists, and a U.S Coast Guard Artist. Linda's work has been juried into museum tours from coast to coast, and her work is held in private collections nationwide and internationally.

Linda is survived by, and will be dearly missed by, her daughters, Rebecca Hodge of Cobalt, Conn., and Rachel Steer of Middle Haddam, Conn.; her two grandsons, Tyler Hodge and Kendrick Steer. She was predeceased by her brother, Gilbert M Norton.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown Conn. In lieu of flowers, or those who wish, memorial donations may be made to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, 123 John St., Camden, ME 04843.

Linda, such a talented artist, gone too soon. I will so miss our conversations at the Camden Bagel Cafe. Your passing makes me very sad.
