Lincolnville — Lincolnville's 2021 Annual Report is dedicated this year in memoriam to David Norman Barrows, who was serving as selectman when he died in September 2020.

He was born in Camden, and grew up on Moody Mountain in Lincolnville. He spent his childhood roaming the Moody Mountain woods and in later life working the land there that he loved so much.

He was well known in the regional community to residents and visitors alike as “Dave” at Rankin’s Hardware, where he worked for over 40 years. He certainly knew how to spin a yarn, was known for his quick wit, and a knack for mischief. He was also known for quietly doing whatever needed to be done for a friend or someone he just met, often without being asked, and without complaint.

Barrows was deeply committed to conservation and to the community.

Through the years, he gave countless hours and was involved in countless ways, including selectman and past member of the Budget Committee, Conservation Commission, and the Mid-Coast Solid Waste Corporation Board of Directors.

"We are eternally grateful for David’s dedication to the community. Please consider honoring David’s contributions to our town by doing what he did: Get involved to make your community better."
