Library taking registrations for youth art clubs

Waldoboro — Registration has begun for the two youth art clubs at Waldoboro Public Library, 958 Main St. The art club for students in grades seven and eight, will be held Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for five weeks beginning Feb. 28.

Another art club for children in grades four through six will meet Mondays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for five weeks beginning Feb. 25.

Classes will have projects designed for the age group. Each session will have a different focus of art-making: assemblage and collage, printmaking, painting and drawing. In addition to these for both groups, book design will be offered in the sessions for middle schoolers. Children will gain hands-on experience with the tools, materials and techniques pertaining to the week’s art-making. In addition, they will have an opportunity to learn about noted artists and innovators in similar areas of art-making. All abilities are welcome.

Joyce Steel, a Waldoboro artist and teacher, will be lead both clubs Steel is an art educator committed to providing an innovative and nurturing creative learning environment where children may experiment and discover their creative voice.

The art clubs are free of charge and all materials will be supplied. Space is limited to 15 members in each, so preregistration is required. To enroll, or for more information, call the library at 832-4484 or stop by.
