Library marks end of summer reading with Mad Science

Mad Science of Maine comes to Rockland Public Library Aug. 12.

Rockland — Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., celebrates the close of its summer reading program, “Build a Better World” Saturday, Aug. 12, beginning at 11 a.m. Children can participate in science demonstrations with “Mad Science of Maine.” Then, at noon, prizes will be awarded to all the children who entered and read books during the summer vacation.

Kenneth Allen will announce winners of the many bicycles that the Masons of Knox Lodge 189 have donated. Each child will go home with a bag of goodies, including a book chosen just for them. After the awarding of prizes, everyone will be invited to sample ice cream and fruit on the library lawn. For more information, contact the library at 594-0310.
