Library collects food, items for those in need

Rockland — The Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., is collecting nonperishable food for Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry, as well as other items to help those in need, through the end of December.

Donors are encouraged to bring in soups, canned fruit and vegetables, oatmeal, baked beans, pasta (except spaghetti), pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned chicken, and rice. Also needed are toiletries - shampoo, bath soap, deodorant, toothpaste, tooth brushes; paper products - toilet paper, infant diapers, sanitary pads; cleaning products - dish soap, cleanser, laundry detergent.

While at the Library, visitors can also drop off hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves of all sizes, either handmade or store-bought, through Dec. 14 to be hung on the Kno-Wal-Lin Tree for Warmth.
