Last call for ‘Color’

Damariscotta — River Arts invites artists throughout Maine to submit artwork for jurying in its upcoming exhibition, “Color.” Artists can submit up to three works in any medium including sculpture, photography, collage, painting, ceramics and fine craft — representational or abstract.

Work can be delivered anytime during gallery hours from until the deadline, Saturday, Sept. 16, at 4 p.m. The exhibition will open with a 5 to 7 p.m. reception Friday, Sept. 22, and run through Oct. 19.

Juror for the exhibition is Tina Ingraham, who received her master of fine arts degree from Brooklyn College of CUNY in 1996; her BA in Design was earned at the University of Cincinnati, College of DAAP. She has a broad history in a variety of teaching experiences, done independently and within educational institutions including Bowdoin College, Stephens College, Maine College of Art and Brooklyn College, where she was awarded The Charles G. Shaw Teaching Fellowship. She is known for teaching color theory directly on the palette and lectures regarding her study of master paintings relevant to her work.

Ingraham’s current exhibit at Greenhut Galleries, “Rock, Trees Sand and Sea, Popham to Blue Hill,” includes 24 paintings. As a 1999 John Simon Guggenheim Grant recipient, Ingraham painted in Italy from 1999 until 2003. Collected internationally, she exhibits at Somerville Manning Gallery in Greenville, Del., Boston Art Inc. and Sylvan Gallery in Wiscasset.

Artists can enter up to three works; total fee is $20, $15 for members. All work must be for sale. Entry forms are available online at or at the gallery. All work must be for sale and not have been shown at River Arts previously. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision.

River Arts holds 10 themed, open, juried exhibitions per year, with some of Maine’s most prominent art community members as jurors.
