Land trust hosts moonlight snowshoe walk Feb. 17

Mansfield Pond, in Hope, will be the site of a moonlight snowshoe walk Feb 17.

Hope — Georges River Land Trust will host a guided snowshoe walk in the moonlight Sunday, Feb. 17, at 6 p.m. on a private conservation easement on the shore of Mansfield Pond, in Hope.  Participants will head out through the woods, cross a moonlit meadow, and if conditions are right, walk out on frozen Mansfield Pond for a view of the Central Highlands by the light of the full moon. Afterwards, the walk’s hosts will warm up participants with a hot beverage and a sweet treat at their home.

The event is free and suitable for children, but registration is required, since the walk is limited to 25 guests. Participants should register by calling 594-5166 by Feb. 15. Guests should bring snowshoes and any other equipment for the 1-mile guided adventure. Carpooling is encouraged and registered guests will receive an email with directions to the site. In the event of bad weather, the alternative date is Feb. 18.
